instructions
"instructions are a boring but necessary part of life"
okay, so we really want fresh BIBLE to be as easy to use as a book on your shelf but in case anything isn't clear this should at least get you going.
search
the search box at the top of the page searches the BIBLE for the words you type. simple huh? you can also jump to passages directly by typing the range you want. examples: John 3:16, John 3, John 3:16-17, John 3:16-4:2.
reading the BIBLE
a few tips on reading and interacting with scripture on fresh BIBLE:
to read a verse within its full context you can use the arrow links at the («) beginning and end (») of the passage to see the preceeding or following verses within that chapter.
clicking verse links (4) allows you to select a range of verses for further study (clipping). your clipped passage will be highlighted and displayed in the yellow rectangle near the top of the page. once you've made your selection you can favorite, tag, or comment on that passage.
you can also clip passages using the (
) link found at the left of the yellow rectangle near the top of each scripture page. use the form to narrow your search.
favorite: keeps a list of your favorite passages. these can be single verses or entire chapters - it's totally up to you. just use the selection method described above to grab your favorite passages. your favorite list will be displayed on your profile and we'll display the most favorited passages on the home page.
tag: tagging is an easy way to assign key words and phrases to passages from the BIBLE. separate your tags using commas to mark passages in new ways. for example, you might tag 1 Timothy 6:10 'finances, greed, riches' even though none of those words are in the verse itself. this helps you categorize scripture for your own use but it also helps others find this verse based on your tags.
comment: this is a space for anyone to comment on a passage or ask a question about the meaning of the passage itself. public comments will be posted for anyone to read and others can reply to your comments as well. private comments are only visible to you; you can edit or refer back to these later through your 'my account' page linked at the top. all the most recent public comments on a particular verse or passage are displayed on the right side of the page.
